(Cleveland, MS) - Grammy Award winning musician Tricia Walker, co-creator of the Hospice Music Project, donated CDs to Heart of Hospice – Delta to show support for frontline healthcare workers.
The Hospice Music Project, founded in 2018 as an initiative of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO), was created by physician John Mulder and Tricia Walker to share experiences of end-of-life care team members through music.
Walker, born and raised in Mississippi and currently residing in the city of Cleveland, recently released a new album as part of the project: The World Around the Bed: Songs of Hope and Healing. The proceeds from its sales support the purchase of personal protective equipment (PPE) for hospice workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The album features 11 original songs written and performed by various artists and based on experiences of hospice professionals.
NHPCO Board Member and Chief Executive Officer for Heart of Hospice, Carla Davis, after hearing the track entitled “Heart of Hospice,” reached out to Walker to let her know how Heart of Hospice was serving her local community. Walker expressed her support for exceptional hospice care providers like Heart of Hospice.
Davis shared: “COVID-19 has brought hospice care to the forefront. We are thankful for artists like Tricia who highlight the valuable work performed each day by hospice and palliative care workers.”
